The Ballarat Aquatic Lifestyle Centre (BALC) is seeking an energetic, highly motivated Fitness Services Officer who is passionate about the health and fitness industry to join our team of dedicated staff.

Reporting to the Fitness & Community Engagement Team Leader, the FSO will play a vital role in driving membership growth, retention and participation at the Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre. This position is an important link between the Health Club, Group Fitness and Customer Experience departments and, as such, will need to be skilled and equipped to perform in all areas - demonstrating a strong ability to communicate effectively, balance multiple responsibilities and work autonomously to complete duties to a high standard. The successful candidate will be a proactive, driven team player who not only takes initiative in providing guidance, advice and training on all Health Club matters but also in the development, implementation and optimization of all programs and retention efforts to meet BALC's objectives.

Responsibilities
* Assist the Fitness & Community Engagement Team Leader to develop, implement and review retention programs and initiatives to meet BALC's objectives.
* Multi-task across a range of programming in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and perform required tasks to a high standard. The ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, collaborate, be resourceful and problem solve effectively is essential.
* Work as a team member to provide the very best health and fitness advice in a friendly atmosphere with high customer service standards.
* Ensure health club consultations and assessments are conducted professionally, and programs/workouts are prescribed safely, using up-to-date industry knowledge.
* Champion the goals and visions of the Centre to the Health Club team, by leading by example through direct service delivery.
* Liaise with user and community groups to identify new program opportunities.
* Ensure patrons conform with Health Club etiquette guidelines and safety policy.
* Complete direct service tasks within the Customer Experience team during periods of high demand.
* Participate in and contribute to team meetings and training.
* Adhere to work instructions and guidelines within departmental area manuals.
* Actively participate in the injury management process.
* Demonstrate initiative and innovation relevant to the position.

Qualifications
* Experience working within a similar role in the fitness industry.
* Experience in planning and implementing membership acquisition and retention strategies.
* Demonstrated experience in providing high quality health and fitness programming to a wide variety of clients and participants.
* Background in developing and implementing group training programs for general users and for specific community groups.
* Previous experience managing others preferred.
* Certificate III in Fitness (Essential).
* Certificate IV in Fitness (Preferred).
* Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (Preferred).
* Current industry registration with AusActive Physical Fitness Australia or ESSA.
* Current Level 2 First Aid certificate, including current CPR.
* Current Working with Children Check.

Key Selection Criteria
* Qualifications and experience as listed above.
* Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
* Be committed to on-going personal and professional development to maintain industry knowledge at the highest level, giving the ability to design and implement safe and effective exercise programs and instructing participants in correct exercise technique.
* Possess strong organisation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Be proactive and motivated to succeed, showing a high level of initiative.
* Demonstrated ability to implement, monitor and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
* National Police Check.
* Flexibility to work across a seven (7) day roster.
