Business Development Manager – National Fire Protection
Position Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across the fire protection sector. This role drives national growth by expanding market presence, developing strategic partnerships, and delivering increased revenue across service, projects, maintenance, and compliance offerings.
The BDM will work closely with Operations, Estimating, Service, and Leadership teams to ensure alignment between sales activity, capability, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Generation
* Identify growth areas, target markets, and emerging opportunities in fire services, including inspections, testing, maintenance, projects, upgrades, special hazards, mining & marine.
* Proactively canvas for new clients and generate sales pipelines.
* Manage and lead the national business development team
* Ensure the team prepare high‑quality sales proposals, tender submissions, and presentations.
* Attend industry events, networking functions, and client meetings to build brand presence.
2. Commercial & Strategic Development
* Develop and implement growth strategies aligned with national business objectives.
* Monitor competitive activity, fire protection market trends, and regulatory changes.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals are scoped accurately and resourced effectively.
3. Sales Performance & Reporting
* Maintain CRM data, manage leads, track pipeline, and report sales performance.
* Monitor KPIs including revenue, margins, conversion rates, and client satisfaction.
* Deliver monthly performance updates and forecasting to senior leadership.
5. Compliance & Industry Standards
* Ensure offerings comply with Australian Standards (AS1851, AS2118 etc.), NCC requirements, and state-based licensing.
* Stay current with WHS requirements and company safety policies.

Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in fire protection, technical sales, BDM, or similar industry (fire, HVAC, security, building services).
* Strong technical understanding of fire systems (sprinklers, detection, EWIS, portables, special hazards, mining & marine sectors).
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, scopes, and tenders.
* CRM experience (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).

Qualifications
* Preferably a qualification in Business, Sales, Engineering, or related field.
* Fire industry certifications/licences advantageous (FPAS, CAB, design or inspect/test accreditation).
