Senior/Principal Control Systems Engineer
We are seeking a Senior / Principal Control Systems Engineer to support ongoing operations, upgrades, and optimisation projects. You will work across the full lifecycle, from engineering design through to commissioning, maintenance, and asset management.
This role will suit a technically strong engineer with proven Schneider Modicon experience, capable of operating autonomously while also providing leadership and technical assurance.
You will contribute to improving system performance, driving standardisation, and supporting multidisciplinary teams across engineering, maintenance, and operations.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
* Significant experience in control systems engineering within mining and metals
* Strong experience across project delivery, operations, and maintenance
* Proven hands‐on experience with Schneider Modicon PLCs (M340, M580, Quantum)
* Experience with EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro) or SoMachine
* Strong PLC programming capability (Ladder, Structured Text, Function Block)
* Experience with SCADA systems (e.g. Citect, Wonderware, Ignition)
* Strong understanding of industrial communications (Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide technical leadership
* Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or related Engineering discipline
Desirable Skills
* Experience across both greenfield and brownfield environments
* Exposure to asset management strategies and system standardisation
* Leadership and mentoring experience (essential for Principal level)
* Experience working across multiple sites or global operations
Duties & Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain control systems across site operations
* Lead PLC and SCADA programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting
* Provide technical assurance and governance across control systems
* Support optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
* Contribute to project delivery across greenfield and brownfield scopes
* Provide operational support including fault finding and system upgrades
* Assist in asset management and lifecycle planning
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and operations
* Drive standardisation and scalable solutions across sites
