Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

Clough, as part of a joint venture, is delivering Perdaman Industries' urea plant, a landmark project for Western Australia. The plant will be the largest in Australia and one of the largest in the world, installing the most sustainable production processes. The project is expected to generate 2,000 jobs during the construction phase, whilst delivering sustained benefits to the local community through career, training and business opportunities.
About the Role
We are currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team on Project Ceres in Karratha (FIFO). Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating design, procurement and construction elements of the Material Handling Package, including the Urea building, conveyor, and ship loader.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Accountable for performance and delivery of engineering services to support project outcomes against agreed project budgets and schedules.
* Responsible for complying with the required technically acceptable standard of work for the discipline group and producing engineering design deliverables for project execution.
* Delegate as necessary, while working within the framework and policies and higher delegations of the business.
* Manage and coordinate the design effort of team reports to achieve satisfactory outcomes (project performance).
* Work with Technical Specialists to ensure specification compliance, technical integrity of design (technical performance).
* Contribute to the development, implementation and improvement of systems across the division.
* Manage customer relations to achieve mutually satisfactory and technical program outcomes.
* Implement initiatives for product improvement (project time scales) and exploit favorable opportunities for variations in project scope.
* Meet/discuss regularly with the discipline lead to report progress and areas of concern.
* Be a proactive member of the project, prepared to work outside conventional boundaries in cooperation with other team members to ensure complete coverage of each work scope.
* Ensure familiarity with the company's Management System, standard manuals, procedures and forms.
* Liaise with project schedulers, expeditors and QA/QC staff.
* Prepare and check design documents from vendors/suppliers.
* Keep correspondence files and other basis documents and reports up to date.
* Participate in squad checks of drawings, datasheets, schedules, calculations, specifications and purchase orders from all disciplines.
* Liaise with vendors in checking and approving vendor drawings prior to construction and factory acceptance tests.
* Liaise with Project Controls personnel.
* Provide construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning support to projects as required.
Your Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant, post graduate, engineering experience in engineering / construction environments.
* Good knowledge and exposure in the following:
* Determining most suitable site layout.
* Providing engineering input to design modelling of civil roads, drainage and siteworks.
* Reviewing geotechnical reports.
* Reviewing civil drawings and 3D models.
* Determining loads and load combinations.
* Performing modelling and analysis of soil-structure interaction.
* Design of simple foundations, slabs on ground and retaining structures.
* Producing calculation reports.
* Some knowledge of the following topics:
* Civil construction techniques.
* Traffic analysis.
* Geotechnical Site Investigation.
* Soil-Structure Interaction.
* Drainage.
* Possess ability to integrate seamlessly into a project team at any point during its lifecycle.
* Possess ability to work unsupervised to achieve results.
* General computer literacy skills.
* Good knowledge of Australian Codes and Standards.
