Legal Assistant, Police Advisory – Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria
Join a team that provides legal services to the Chief Commissioner of Police and Victoria Police personnel across the state. This role supports solicitors within the Police Advisory Branch (PAB) of the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and amend correspondence and court documents
- Manage electronic legal files
- Collate complex e-briefs for counsel and redact large volumes of documents
- Liaise with internal and external clients
- Deliver materials to clients, courts, and barristers
- Handle general administrative tasks, including printing, photocopying, and scanning
This role is part of a supportive and collaborative legal support team that prepares matters for hearings and assists solicitors in practice management.

About The Branch

About The Role
An exciting opportunity awaits an enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join the Police Advisory Branch. You will provide efficient and effective administrative support to a team of solicitors across various areas of law and play a crucial part in preparing matters for hearings and assisting solicitors in managing their practices.

Qualifications & Skills
- Previous administrative experience in a professional services environment
- Ability to prioritise and manage time to meet competing priorities
- High-level administrative support to multiple operators in a busy environment
- Self-starter with initiative and autonomy
- Strong attention to detail and service excellence
- Comfort in fast-paced environments with deadlines
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
Experience in a litigation environment is desirable, but candidates with demonstrated high-level administrative support experience in professional services are encouraged to apply.
Remuneration & Benefits
Ongoing | Full-time
VPS 2 remuneration of $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation per annum (depending on experience)
VGSO offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, supporting a balance of remote and in-office work, with opportunities for ongoing learning and development.
Requirements
A Baseline, Negative Vetting 1 or 2 security clearance, or a willingness to obtain one if required.
