Offer description

The Company

Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) is an industry‑led, not‑for‑profit economic development organisation supporting growth, investment and diversification across Northern Tasmania. Formed initially to strengthen regional supply chains and advocacy for advanced manufacturing and heavy industry, BBAMZ has grown organically from 12 founding businesses to a membership base of more than 60 organisations.

The Northern Employment and Business Hub (NEBHub) is a BBAMZ initiative supported by the Tasmanian Government which delivers free, place‑based employment services to job seekers and employers across the region. Together, BBAMZ and NEBHub play a trusted and highly visible role connecting industry, workforce, government and community to support long‑term regional outcomes.

The Role

The Project and Business Development Lead is a hybrid, hands‑on role working across both BBAMZ and NEBHub. Reporting to the BBAMZ COO and working closely with the CEO, General Manager and NEBHub team, you will deliver projects, events and engagement activities while strengthening relationships with members, employers and stakeholders across Northern Tasmania.

This role focuses on practical delivery rather than people management. You will coordinate events and programs, support membership growth and retention, contribute to workforce and grant‑funded initiatives, and help connect activity across key projects such as the Immersive Skills Lab and Hydrogen Hub. While social media and digital activity form part of the role, the emphasis is on face‑to‑face engagement, relationship‑building and on‑the‑ground delivery.

The position is offered as a fixed‑term contract through to September 2027, aligned with current NEBHub government funding, with flexibility to evolve as funding and organisational needs change.

The Ideal Person

This opportunity will suit a commercially minded, relationship‑focused professional who enjoys variety, autonomy and working close to industry and community.

Key Requirements:

* Experience in industry, manufacturing, workforce development, economic development
* Comfortable operating across both office‑based work and regular on‑the‑road engagement
* Strong project and event delivery capability and enjoys coordinating people and activity
* Can build and maintain trusted relationships with employers, members, government and key internal and external stakeholders
* Understands the importance of regional context, local networks and practical outcomes
* Organised, proactive and able to work independently in a small, agile team
* Comfortable supporting grant‑funded initiatives and contributing to future funding opportunities

Experience in the northern Tasmanian industrial landscape is advantageous but not essential. Most important is your ability to engage authentically, communicate clearly and turn ideas into action.

The Benefits

* Play a visible role in shaping Northern Tasmania’s industry and workforce future
* Work closely with industry leaders, government and community stakeholders
* Enjoy a varied, autonomous role with real regional impact
* Be part of a purpose‑driven organisation committed to long‑term sustainability
* Travel expenses reimbursed, with access to pool vehicles and support for regional travel
* Exposure to grant‑funded initiatives and emerging industry priorities

Next Steps

If you are motivated by regional impact, enjoy building strong industry relationships, and want to contribute to meaningful economic and workforce outcomes, we look forward to hearing from you.
