The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of all areas of the yacht club, ensuring a first-class environment for members, guests, and events. This role oversees landscaped grounds, waterfront-adjacent areas, docks, and amenities outside and inside the clubhouse while managing staff, schedules, and resources to uphold the club's standards.

Reporting to the General Manager this position will be full-time 38 hours a week across 5 days. There will be weekend work required.

This will be a Salary position + superannuation and open to negotiation based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee all grounds maintenance including lawns, gardens, trees, walkways, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent landscapes, and outdoor public areas.
* Maintain grounds to be event-ready for all events & social functions, weddings, and member activities.
* Maintain the clubhouse areas with painting, running repairs and overall presentation.
* Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate maintenance staff.
* Plan and execute mowing, irrigation, fertilisation, and seasonal changeovers.
* Coordinate with clubhouse staff to ensure cohesive operations especially around weddings and Squadron events that require communal spaces to be kept neat and tidy.
* Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of equipment, tools, and vehicles.
* Establish & maintain an asset log of all maintenance shed equipment.
* Manage inventory, supplies, and grounds-related budgets.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant state Work Health Safety regulations and Squadron policies.
* Implement sustainable practices.
* Respond to weather-related needs including storm preparation, post-storm cleanup, and emergency response on the grounds and marina.
* Support marina maintenance projects as needed (excluding specialised marine work which will be contracted to Professionals.)
* Oversee maintenance and WHS of the slip yard.

Qualifications

* First Aid
* Trade certificates desirable
* Valid driver's license
* Valid Forklift License
* White Card

Skills and Competencies

* Strong leadership and staff management skills
* Diligence with a focus on member experience and aesthetics.
* Ability to plan and prioritise work around events and seasonal demands.
* Critical thinking skills and sound judgment
* Clear communication and collaboration with staff, management, and members
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Administration skills- competent in ordering supplies and receiving of orders for payment by the finance team; maintaining par levels; and stocktake.
* Competent in Email conversation and timely response to emails from members and suppliers.
* Foresight to prevent maintenance issues from fostering to large scale repairs.
* Experience in general maintenance.
* Supervisory responsibilities.
* Knowledge of irrigation & maintenance practises
* Direct experience in overseeing a like for like grounds operation
* Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations

Working Conditions

* Outdoor work in coastal weather conditions including sun, wind, salt air, heat, and cold
* Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and on-call availability during emergency callouts for the grounds.
* From time-to-time special projects may be needed in this role.
