BHAC is one of the largest Aboriginal corporations in Northern Australia, employing more than 200 staff and representing and supporting approximately 4,000 Aboriginal people across 32 Homelands in West Arnhem Land. BHAC delivers a wide range of community services, employment programs and enterprises across Maningrida and surrounding Homelands, working in partnership with community, government and other stakeholders. Our work is guided by values of respect and trust, commitment to community wellbeing, cultural authority, collaboration, innovation and best practice.

We are now seeking an experienced and highly organised Office Manager to coordinate the operations of our Corporate Office in Maningrida. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive team, this role plays an important part in keeping the organisation running smoothly by coordinating office systems, administrative services, facilities and corporate support functions.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organising, supporting teams and keeping operations running smoothly, and who is comfortable both supporting administrative staff and rolling up their sleeves to get things done.

This role offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a remote Aboriginal community while contributing to meaningful work that supports culture, community wellbeing and livelihoods in Maningrida and our Homelands in West Arnhem Land.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Office Manager coordinates corporate office operations and procedures to support the efficient, professional and culturally respectful functioning of BHAC.

Key responsibilities

* Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the BHAC corporate office
* Supervising, mentoring and supporting Indigenous corporate office administrative staff
* Ensuring a welcoming, organised and well-functioning office environment
* Managing reception and administrative services for staff, community members and visitors
* Coordinating meetings, travel arrangements and organisational events
* Managing office procurement, supplies and administrative resources
* Maintaining office systems, records and document management processes
* Supporting HR administration including onboarding documentation and work permits
* Maintaining registers of licences, certifications and compliance documentation
* Working with organisational systems such as SharePoint, ELMO and Safety Champion
* Supporting improvements to office systems and administrative processes

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys supporting teams to work effectively, who will help to create a welcoming and culturally respectful corporate office environment. You will bring:

* Experience in office management, administration or business support roles
* A friendly, approachable and service-oriented attitude, with the ability to create a welcoming office environment for staff, community members and visitors
* Ability to contribute to a positive, supportive and respectful workplace culture
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
* Experience coordinating office systems, facilities, supplies and service providers
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and SharePoint or similar systems
* Experience supporting HR or recruitment administration processes
* Ability to supervise or support administrative staff
* Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills
* Ability to work independently and take initiative
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and approachable manner when working with colleagues, community members and visitors
* Understanding of, and respect for, working with Aboriginal people and communities
* Experience working in a remote community, Aboriginal organisation or not-for-profit environment
* Experience using organisational systems such as ELMO, Safety Champion or similar
* Experience coordinating travel, meetings or events
* Qualification in business administration or similar
