Reporting to the President, Asia Pacific, the Country Managing Director (MD) Australia will oversee and grow the Australian business. The role will be responsible for defining the strategic vision and leading the team in execution of the business strategy.

The Managing Director will drive growth across Equinix's estate and customers. They will serve as the face of Equinix in the country, taking responsibility for cross‐functional orchestration – driving consistent \"One Equinix\" culture, providing local market insights, cultivating key customer and government relations, and monitoring cross‐functional operations. Australia is a critical market for Equinix, and we are excited to see results and investment continue to grow.

Responsibilities
* Grow the market:
o Own the 5‐year vision for the country, market opportunity and competitive position
o Lead development of a market strategy plan for the metro, to include objectives for retail verticals, networks and hyperscale
o Partner with Corporate Development / Commercial Finance / Sales, to develop, drive and execute the market development plan and metro strategy
o Manage senior customer relationships: Create senior‐level relationships with key customers in‐country and identify delivery gaps impacting customer satisfaction and resolve with teams
o Manage in‐country alliances: Build direct relationships with in‐country reps for strategic alliances
o Build market intelligence: Understand competitor positioning and opportunities for local expansion
o Drive retail growth and retail leadership in market
o Report country financial metrics: Consolidate reporting of country P&L.
o Flag risks to financial targets: Identify risks to financial targets and actively flag with the right functional leader for resolution; elevate to regional president if needed
o Act as public liaison: Act as statutory representative to local authorities for all matters including real estate purchasing, permitting/zoning, landlord relationship management, active monitoring and shaping of the legal/regulatory environment
o Build Equinix brand: Ensure visible presence at shows and events to communicate Equinix's strategy
* Lead the team:
o Lead the country cross‐functional team, ensuring team cohesion and end‐to‐end alignment and delivery on strategy
o Improve organisational health: Drive health initiatives to boost employee morale and build positive office culture in the country across all functional groups
o Ensure personal alignment with retail focus and global strategy
o Nurture, represent and grow the Equinix culture
o Identify, motivate, sponsor, develop, and highlight key talent
o Work with regional function leaders to build a high‐performing local team
o Responsible for organisational health in country, including eSat and strategic alignment
o Ensure all employees understand our Purpose
o Build an engaged, diverse workforce, inclusive workplace environment and empower all employees to make decisions at the right levels
o Responsibility, within a matrix structure for the country business across sales, engineering, operations, customer success, marketing, commercial finance, and HR
o Influence Equinix strategic decisions and execution in country and across region
* Sell & Evolve the business:
o Actively support the development of key/strategic customers, channel partners and Strategic Alliances to build out ecosystems in market
o Build strong relationship with government bodies, press and industry analysts/investors
o Provide competitive market insights to commercial solutions on deals/opportunities and validate market view of the team
o Provide counsel on complex deals and business decisions
o Work with the business to maintain and improve yield
* Contribute to Regional & Global Success:
o Support/Lead Global/Regional projects and programs (churn mitigation, AR/AP escalation, fabric adoption, DI&B (Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging))
o Align and represent global/regional strategy
o Achieve regional P&L and help drive export growth
Qualifications
1. Extensive country knowledge and market intelligence.
2. Ability to determine and present clear strategic direction for the Australian market with the emphasis on the enterprise/retail business
3. Proven ability to see the 'bigger long‐term picture' and think strategically while achieving short‐term results

5. Focus on execution and results – establishing high standards for performance, setting goals, and developing plans, following through, and holding people accountable for results

16. Extensive demonstrated record of accomplishment in general management as a MD or enterprise sales leader
17. Proven and entrepreneurial General Manager with previous P&L responsibility, and ideally with experience gained at a US technology company
18. Knowledge of the business challenges facing enterprise executives that are driving needs for interconnection services
19. Experience of establishing and scaling direct enterprise sales and partner models
20. Experience of selling to a whole spectrum of industries including network and mobile providers, cloud and IT services, content providers, financial services, automotive etc.
21. Experience with recurring revenue, sales complexity, solution selling, readying platforms for B2B
Proactive, collaborative, and able to work comfortably in a non‐hierarchical context
22. Strong oral and written communication skills
23. Strong academic background in a relevant discipline. An MBA is an advantage
24. Adept at balancing intense short‐term pressures with overall long‐term goals
25. Ability to effectively collaborate through and resolve global/local trade‐offs with an Equinix and partner‐first mindset
26. Thoughtful, strategic, and skilled at planning initiatives, designating priorities, and being decisive when faced with ambiguity
