What You'll Do
In the role of Senior Registered Nurse, your duties will include:
1. Performing professional routine, urgent, and emergency care.
2. Triaging and providing medical advice to patients within the scope of practice.
3. Checking blood pressures and weights, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), drawing blood, and collecting urine samples.
4. Receiving, dispatching, directing, and filing relevant mail and laboratory and x-ray reports.
5. Responding, as needed, during emergency situations.
6. Maintaining the clinics in a manner suitable for dispensing care (e.g., managing sterilization equipment and the "clean" and "dirty" utility rooms; maintaining the "clean" utility room for handling sterilized equipment and the "dirty" room for handling potentially infectious material).
7. Other duties as required.
Requirements:
1. Must be an Australian citizen.
2. Must possess a medical license to practice nursing in Australia.
3. Must have a BA/BS from an accredited institution.
4. Must have a minimum of five years of experience working as a registered/licensed nurse.
5. Must have a minimum of three years of experience managing, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff.
6. Ability to direct the administrative needs of the clinics.
7. Liaising with the Government Contract Officer Technical Representative (COTR) in the administration of the medical clinics.
8. Knowledge of and ability to apply professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques to patient care.
9. Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
10. Knowledge of training methods and interpersonal skills to develop rapport with patients and co-workers, and to present instructional and educational information.
11. Practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and guidelines, with skill in collecting a variety of samples.
12. Maintain current CPR certification.
This role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.
