THE ROLE
The Children and Youth Coordinator works within Client Services to promote positive outcomes among newly arrived multicultural children and young adults by providing Case Management, facilitating school engagement, and organising young adult group activities. The role also exists to strengthen family networks by facilitating group gender specific or parenting workshops. The role works across several funded programs, including Family Support Services, Reconnect and Diverse Youth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* School Engagement – Establish and maintain positive relationships with schools within the Greater Darwin region, prioritising those with Intensive English Units or high CaLD populations.
* Identify opportunities to collaborate with schools for events or trainings which promote Melaleuca services; enhance positive outcomes for CaLD students; and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
* Deliver Peer to Peer workshops which promote inclusion and belonging and improve settlement outcomes for newly arrived students.
* Group Work Activities – Organise and deliver group programs supported by appropriate logistics, staffing, risk mitigation strategies, and adherence to Child Safe principles.
* Collaborate with internal teams to co‐design and deliver group activities for Darwin multicultural youth that improve settlement outcomes and promote inclusion and belonging.
* Plan and facilitate group workshops for adults that promote belonging, inclusion, and reduced isolation.
* Case Coordination – Provide Case Coordination (intake, assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and exit) for young adults who are at risk of or are homeless.
* With the client, develop and implement Case Management Plans (CMP) tracking their progress to ensure positive outcomes, linkages to other services, and timely review and exit.
* With relevant internal staff, facilitate strength-based communication between Melaleuca, young adults and their parents to promote positive family outcomes.
* Provide effective guidance to Support Workers and/or volunteers to ensure delivery of high-quality, Child Safe services.
* Administration – Actively work towards meeting contractual key performance indicators.
* Maintain relevant digital platforms holding client information, ensuring all sensitive and personal information remains confidential and stored in line with guidelines.
* Ensure accurate case notes are recorded in the Community Database Solutions platform, recording all interactions with clients in an objective, factual and succinct manner.
* Complete and/or contribute to relevant reports as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

SELECTION CRITERIAESSENTIAL
* Bachelor in Social Work, Youth Services, Community Services or similar.
* Demonstrated experience delivering group workshops among young adults and adults which promote positive outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience providing case management to youth at risk.
* Demonstrated Experience working within a Trauma Informed Framework.
* Ability to network, partner and maintain networks with external agents.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work autonomously (be self-motivated, flexible and demonstrate initiate) and be performance driven.
DESIRABLE
* Experience working with people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
* Experience using translating and interpreting services.
LICENCES/CLEARANCES (ESSENTIAL)
* Current class c driver's licence
* Current NT Ochre Card (Working with Children clearance)
* Satisfactory national criminal history report
* Right to work in Australia
