New Street Counsellor – Aboriginal Identified

Join our team and help improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, and families across the Murrumbidgee region. This is your opportunity to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed counselling and community engagement that truly matters.

About The Role
As a
New Street Counsellor
, you will deliver counselling and assessment services to children and young people (10–17 years) who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours, and support their families and caregivers. This role is part of the
Priority Populations Program Aboriginal Development Pathway
, offering mentoring, cultural supervision, and professional growth opportunities.

You'll Also

* Provide cultural consultation and create a culturally safe environment for clients and staff.
* Engage in community development and capacity building with local Aboriginal communities.
* Collaborate with interagency partners including DCJ, Education, and Out-of-Home Care providers.
* Participate in outreach services across MLHD, which may include after-hours work and overnight stays.
* Maintain accurate client records and contribute to service evaluation and improvement.
* This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Remuneration:
$65, $134,338.00 per annum (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

What We're Looking For

* Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement (Section 14 Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
* Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Welfare, or Mental Health.
* Experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding intergenerational trauma.
* Graduate Certificate in CAV qualification pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) with demonstrated Cultural expertise or commitment to complete
* Skills in child-centred, family-focused counselling and case management.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.
