Job: Pricing Actuary
Duration: 12-month contract

An opportunity is available for a Pricing Actuary to join our Pricing and Analytics team in a full-time capacity for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This position will take a leading role in the Pricing and Analytics team in delivering Avant's pricing and portfolio management. The role also involves delivering internal actuarial analysis, advice and recommendations for a range of areas across Avant. Key activities in this role will include:
Take a leading role within the Pricing and Analytics team in delivering actuarial analysis and performance monitoring to support product pricing, portfolio management and optimisation of risk intervention outcomes.
Deliver other actuarial and analytical services to the broader Avant business as required.
Assist the Medical Indemnity Division to progressively drive an agenda of commerciality of the general insurance business and excellence in insurance management by delivering sustainable growth of the insurance portfolios and pro-actively reducing claims costs through risk intervention and the efficient use of medical defence costs.
Mentor and develop junior team members, facilitating strong internal client relationships and ensuring quality, transparency, and consistency of actuarial and analytical advice.
Support the development of the Pricing and Analytics team's vision and deliver Avant's approach to technical support for pricing and portfolio management, including reporting, monitoring and analysis.
The ideal candidate:
Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
Experience in general insurance highly regarded.
Actuarial pricing and outstanding claims valuation (long tailed experience viewed positively).
Experience in SQL.
Experience in SAS or Python highly regarded.
