Test Engineer (Falcon Test)
To ensure reliability, our test team pushes hardware to its limits in realistic conditions at the Rocket Development Facility in McGregor, TX. Test Engineers oversee the entire test process, from developing requirements to analyzing data and informing the design/production process.
Responsibilities:
* Determine flight suitability of rocket hardware through thorough testing
* Provide real-time engineering support for technicians during daily operations
* Review and analyze test data to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement
* Find innovative ways to optimize test processes and increase testing capability
* Identify and resolve potential hazards by collaborating with design, production, and launch engineers
* Ensure safe operations and maintain a high level of situational awareness
* Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient work environment
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
* At least 1 year of hands-on testing experience (including internships, clubs, or extracurricular activities)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* 3+ years of experience with mechanical systems, structural systems, propulsion systems, fluid systems, flight hardware, or test operations
* Ability to thrive in ambiguous requirements and aggressive timelines
* High levels of personal autonomy and self-driven motivation
* Knowledge of hazardous systems and instrumentation
* Experience with code-based data analytics (Python, R, MATLAB, NI LabVIEW) to solve real-world problems
* Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and failure analysis
* Experience writing and optimizing technical procedures and work instructions
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Additional Requirements:
* Physical dexterity required for working in tight quarters
* Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
* Work performed in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
* Flexibility required due to varying site operational needs
