North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is seeking to establish a pool of Speech and Language Consultants for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Qualified Speech Pathologists and/or Teachers may apply.
NEMLDC provides a state-wide service for students with speech and language difficulties. It includes a direct service for students (K–2) enrolled in the Language Development Centre and an Outreach Service. The Outreach Service provides support to mainstream schools in the North Metropolitan Region and the Wheatbelt. Travel will be required by the suitable candidate/s to fulfil this component of the role.

The Role
The Speech and Language Consultant will ideally work as a part of a collaborative team in the Outreach Service and also display the ability to work in a self-directed manner. They may be responsible for providing high quality consultancy, coaching and professional learning to regional and school communities in the area of speech, language and literacy development. The suitable applicants may be required to have substantial knowledge and experience in language and literacy programs for students with speech, language and literacy difficulties and disorders.
The Speech and Language Consultant would be required to work effectively in a team environment and should be able to collaborate with schools and internal and external service providers regarding language/literacy programs and service provision. In this role you may also be expected to participate in professional learning activities, liaise with organisations, and research institutions to maintain and develop professional, up to date skills.

* Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in speech, language and literacy within the context of Western Australia's public education system and operations at a school level.
* Demonstrated highly developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to use data to effectively inform change and generate innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems in the areas of speech, language and literacy.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner to provide specialised speech, language and literacy support to educators.
* Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing speech, language and literacy programs for students with speech, language and literacy difficulties and disorders.
* Demonstrated highly developed oral and written communication skills, including considerable experience in developing and effectively facilitating professional learning.
* Demonstrated highly developed negotiation, consultation and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with a range of people across settings.
