We're coming to the fringe of Melbourne's sporting and entertainment precinct, with a brand new 140-key apartment hotel. Flying under the banner of our neighbourhood brand, Veriu Hotels & Suites, the hotel will tastefully bring to life the sporting culture of Melbourne while beingstrategically surrounded by the corporate offices of small & large businesses and brands. This makes the property ideally placed for our core customer, the corporate traveller.
As General Manager, you'll guide the hotel through its most important phases: pre-opening, ramp-up, stabilisation, and the path to profitability.In the lead-up to opening, you'll work within the Veriu Group framework to establish the team, structure, suppliers, and operational processes required for a seamless launch. You'll spend significant time on-site ensuring pre-opening tasks and timelines are met, while collaborating closely with our Development team and key stakeholders. Just as importantly, you'll be driving business development, building strong relationships and reputation with corporate partners to position the hotel for long-term success.
Once open, your focus will shift to establishing and stabilising the business, embedding efficient operations while growing the hotel's presence within the local community and corporate markets. At Veriu Group, our hotels are run like small businesses, and our General Managers know that genuine success comes from staying focused on the commercial drivers that matter most.
With the support of our passionate shared-services and operations teams, you'll bring creativity, initiative, and a hands-on approach to deliver outstanding results. From day one, you'll shape a high-performance culture and establish your hotel as a benchmark.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
We work in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same, so we're looking for people who are adaptable, enjoy variety and operate with an ownership mindset.
The successful person must have:
* Approved Australian working rights (Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or a Visa with approved working rights)
* Be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate and Liquor Licence (at Veriu expense)
* Demonstrated experience developing and leading a high performing team team
* Expertise in problem solving and influencing business performance
* High standards of attention to detail and communication (written & verbal)
* Passion for personal growth and pushing business performance limits
