Master Butchers Co-operative Ltd (trading as MBL Proteins) is a multi-faceted organisation that provides rendering, blending, packaging and machinery services to the meat industry. Members of MBL Service consist of retail and wholesale butchers, supermarkets, smallgoods manufacturers, abattoir operators, boning room operators, and seafood and poultry manufacturers/retailers mainly in SA, NT and WA.
The organisation is seeking a full time qualified Skilled Meat Worker.
The salary offered is $50,000 - $55,000 per annum plus superannuation.
**Duties and responsibilities**
The work involves operating machinery and processing of animal by-products with the use of rendering equipment. The Skilled Meat Worker would undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Operates switching controls to direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from supply rails to processing areas;
- Prepare carcasses for further processing by removing internal organs and hides;
- Utilise rendering equipment to process livestock by-product materials for the production of tallow, grease, blood meal, and high-protein bone meal;
- Drying the concentrated protein and grounding the product for distribution;
- Maintain and clean machinery and equipment;
- Coordination of production and supervising the rendering process; and
- Ensuring all operations are adhered to policy as required by safety and hygiene standards.
The applicants will have the following skills and experience:
- Certificate III of Meat Processing (Rendering) or other relevant qualification
- At least 2 years full time prior experience in the meat industry.
- An ability to assess and prioritise maintenance, repair and servicing where required.
- Attention to detail in supervision of operations.
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Skilled Meat Worker is highly desirable.
**Salary**: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
