We are committed to educating our community about the effects of road trauma and influencing driver attitudes and behaviors to reduce crashes and subsequent trauma. Our volunteers are at the forefront of this effort, sharing their personal stories and experiences to make a positive impact.
In the Ararat Region, we are seeking individuals who have been impacted by road trauma to join our team as volunteer speakers. These dedicated individuals will work with us to change cultural beliefs and create safer drivers locally through education, information and storytelling.
Our Volunteer program is designed to empower people who have experienced traumatic events on our roads to make a difference in their local communities. By telling their stories in a safe and supportive environment, our volunteers inspire drivers to adopt safer behaviors and attitudes.
We use a restorative justice model to promote road safety in our communities. Our volunteers receive comprehensive training and support from our regional coordinators and counselors. This enables them to effectively communicate their message and make a lasting impact on those they engage with.
The opportunities to speak to various community groups, schools, workplaces and driver-specific programs are numerous. Influencing change across the general community is a key aspect of this role, which can be achieved through government initiatives, enforcement strategies and media awareness campaigns.
