Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Specialist to work with Canadian Armed Forces members in our outpatient clinic located on base Esquimalt.
This role involves providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the efficient administration of medications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prescribe and Dispense Medications: Compound, dispense and prescribe pharmaceuticals to patients, educating them on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage in accordance with CF Health Service policies and standards.
2. Monitor Patient Care: Monitor the use of pharmaceuticals, order lab results and make decisions in accordance with prescribing authority.
3. Patient Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records by documenting prescriptions and follow-up plans for continuity of care.
4. Collaborative Care: Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to ensure efficient and effective care.
5. Standards of Practice: Practice in accordance with NAPRA Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacists.
6. Inquiries and Support: Respond to inquiries from healthcare providers and patients on medications and administration.
7. Case Conferences: Participate in case conferences with physicians, reviewing and updating patients' medication profiles.
8. Departure Assistance Groups: Provide pharmacy support to DAGs, including prescribing and documenting pharmaceuticals.
9. Maintenance and Inventory: Maintain medication and pharmacy inventory, perform monthly equipment checks and enforce proper return and disposal of pharmaceuticals and medical materiel.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized Canadian University accredited by CCAPP.
2. Completed National Board examination through the PEBC.
3. Licensed and in good standing with the BC College of Pharmacists.
4. Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience providing direct patient care as a clinical or community pharmacist.
5. Current certification or willingness to obtain CPR Level C with AED.
Additional Requirements:
You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
Work Schedule:
A standard Monday-to-Friday schedule with no evening or weekend commitments, offering a competitive hourly rate between $60-$70.
