About the Organisation

Pretect Devices is an early-stage medical technology company developing innovative monitoring solutions aimed at improving outcomes for the most vulnerable patients. We are conducting the first neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) medical device trial of its kind in Western Australia, working closely with leading hospital partners including Fiona Stanley Hospital. Our mission is to enable earlier detection and intervention for conditions that can lead to lifelong disability, with a focus on improving outcomes at the earliest stages of life. Our work sits at the intersection of clinical medicine, engineering, and advanced data science including analytical approaches adapted from fields such as astrophysics to extract meaningful signals from complex physiological data. We place strong emphasis on patient- and family-centred care, recognising the critical role of parents in neonatal research and clinical environments.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Trial Manager to lead and coordinate clinical and research activities across multiple hospital sites in Western Australia. This role extends beyond traditional trial coordination and includes involvement in translational research, data‐driven clinical investigation, and early‐stage medical innovation. As an early member of the team, you will play a key role in shaping and scaling the clinical program as it expands. This is a hands‐on role that combines day‐to‐day clinical trial execution with strategic oversight, including supporting multi‐site trial delivery and contributing to the design and optimisation of the broader clinical program. You will have a clear pathway to senior clinical leadership as the company grows. This role reports to the Head of Clinical Development.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Trial Management

* Manage timelines, milestones, and cross‐site coordination
* Identify and manage risks to trial delivery (e.g., recruitment, compliance, timelines)
* Work closely with neonatologists, nurses, and hospital research teams
* Oversee patient recruitment, consent processes, and data collection in liaison with the CCI
* Ensure compliance with GCP, regulatory, and ethical standards
* Initiate, and execute NICU‐based clinical studies
* Work with engineering, product, and leadership teams
* Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably required to support evolving needs of the business

Clinical Strategy & Program Development

* Provide operational input to clinical strategy and trial planning
* Identify opportunities to optimise trial design, recruitment, and site performance
* Support expansion to additional clinical sites and future studies

Research & Translational Work

* Contribute to the design and refinement of clinical study protocols
* Support analysis and interpretation of clinical and physiological data
* Opportunities for authorship

Selection Criteria

Required Skills & Experience

* Minimum 4+ years' experience in clinical trial management
* Strong understanding of GCP and clinical research processes
* Experience with ethics and governance submissions
* Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

Highly Desirable

* Experience in neonatal, paediatric, or hospital‐based research
* Experience with medical device trials
* Interest in data‐driven or computational approaches to medicine
* Experience working across multiple clinical sites

Opportunities for Growth

* Potential to pursue a sponsored industry‐led PhD
* Leading and executing a first‐in‐kind NICU clinical trial program in WA
* Exposure to interdisciplinary work spanning medicine, engineering, and data science
* Opportunities for authorship on publications and conference presentations
* As the clinical programme scales, this role has the potential to evolve into a senior clinical leadership position with oversight of the broader clinical function

Application Process

Submit your expression of interest, including CV, a statement addressing the selection criteria and outlining your interest to Dr Samuel Bolland COO at sam.bolland@pretectdevices.com. You may also contact this email address for any queries.
