The role involves both hands-on farm work and the ability to assist in supervising day-to-day farm activities.About the RoleWorking closely with farm managers and alongside a small team, the successful candidate will support both livestock and cropping operations at Hillcroft Farms.
This role includes the operation and maintenance of farm machinery, coordination of seasonal tasks, and the care and handling of livestock—particularly pigs.This position is ideal for someone who can operate autonomously while also contributing to a team-oriented, safety-first farming environment.ResponsibilitiesAligned with the ANZSCO classification 363115 - Senior Broadacre Crop and Livestock Farm Worker, duties include:Supporting the planning and implementation of broadacre cropping programs, including sowing, fertilising, spraying, and harvestingOperating and maintaining modern farm machinery such as tractors, sprayers, seeders, harvesters, and front-end loadersMonitoring crop and pasture health and reporting signs of disease, pest infestations, or deficienciesProviding care for piggery livestock, including feeding, monitoring, handling, and assisting in movement and transportationRecording and reporting livestock data, machinery usage, and crop production figures as requiredAssisting with the coordination and supervision of seasonal workers during high-demand periodsTransporting and handling hay, straw, feed, fertiliser, and other materials around the farmPerforming general farm maintenance tasks including fencing, yard work, water systems, and infrastructure repairAdhering to and promoting best practices in biosecurity, animal welfare, and workplace health and safetySkills, Qualifications, and ExperienceTo be considered for the role, applicants must meet one of the following:Hold an AQF Certificate II or equivalent and have at least 1.5 years (20+ hours/week) of relevant post-qualification experience; ORHold an AQF Certificate III or higher and have at least 1 year (20+ hours/week) of relevant post-qualification experience; ORHave at least 1 year of full-time (38+ hours/week) relevant experience in broadacre and livestock farm workEssential Requirements:Demonstrated experience in both broadacre crop production and livestock handling (pigs or other livestock)Practical knowledge of seeding, spraying, harvesting, and feeding systemsCompetence in operating and maintaining farm machinery and mechanical equipmentFamiliarity with safe work practices, WHS regulations, and biosecurity protocolsAbility to work independently and as part of a small teamGood communication skills and willingness to assist in supervisionA current driver's licence is required; machinery or forklift tickets are desirableWhat's on OfferPermanent, full-time employment in a professional and well-established farming businessCompetitive salary: $70,000 - $85,000 AUD per annum, based on experienceExposure to modern farming practices, machinery, and animal welfare standardsOpportunities for career progression within a supportive and forward-thinking teamDiverse work covering both cropping and livestock operationsSuited to a motivated individual with well-rounded experience in mixed farming operations, including animal husbandry and broadacre crop production.
