About This Opportunity
The Engagement Officer provides high-level support to the Director, Advancement and works collaboratively within the Advancement team to support the Institute's operational, philanthropic and strategic objectives. The role is responsible for coordinating and project managing advancement and fundraising events, developing electronic and print communications for Institute activities, and acting as a key point of contact for QBI and the wider UQ community. This position operates within a collaborative team environment, contributing to effective stakeholder engagement and the delivery of high-quality advancement initiatives.
Key responsibilities will include:
Events & Engagement
* Lead end-to-end delivery of QBI Advancement events (internal and external), including major fundraising, stewardship and stakeholder initiatives, ensuring high-quality, timely outcomes.
* Coordinate events delivered by external organisers and partners, and manage event communications, marketing collateral and promotion across digital, print and social channels in line with UQ brand guidelines.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with UQ stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance with UQ policies, donor data requirements and best practice.
* Secure and manage event sponsorships, prizes and in-kind support, and recruit and coordinate volunteers.
* Represent QBI at events and public engagements, and lead post-event evaluation and reporting to support continuous improvement.
Administration & Finance
* Provide project management support for Advancement and engagement initiatives, including event briefs, run sheets, calendars and workflows.
* Manage assigned event budgets, financial tracking, reporting, reconciliations and event data, including websites and intranet content.
Special Requirements
* Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for event delivery.
This is a full-time 100%, fixed-term position to May 2027 at HEW Level 6.
About You
* A relevant qualification in Events, Marketing, Business or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
* Demonstrated experience in end-to-end event management, including resource planning, budget preparation and financial administration.
* High level of attention to detail, with well-developed written communication skills.
* A proactive, approachable and collaborative team member with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and positive stakeholder experiences.
Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
