Instructional Designer & Trainer 12-month Contract Role | ICT Transformation Projects | Ipswitch
An organisation undergoing a significant enterprise-wide digital transformation is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer & Trainer to support the delivery of two major system implementations focused on asset management and safety incident management.
This role is critical in ensuring employees across the organisation are confident, capable, and ready to adopt new systems, processes, and ways of working.
About the role Working closely with project teams, change specialists, and subject matter experts, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality learning solutions that translate complex systems and operational requirements into practical, user-focused training.
You will play a key role in organisational readiness by delivering engaging learning experiences through a mix of face-to-face and virtual training, supported by well-designed learning resources.
Key responsibilities
* Design and develop high-quality learning materials including job aids, quick reference guides, instructional videos, eLearning modules, and facilitator resources
* Deliver engaging training sessions to a diverse workforce, both in-person and virtually
* Translate complex system functionality, safety requirements, and process changes into clear, practical learning content
* Align training activities with project change and readiness plans to support adoption and minimise disruption
* Apply instructional design best practice and accessibility standards across all learning materials
* Adapt learning approaches to suit different roles, environments, and levels of digital capability
* Support training coordination including scheduling, materials management, and stakeholder communication
* Gather feedback and evaluate training effectiveness to continuously improve learning outcomes
About you You are an experienced instructional designer and trainer who enjoys working in project environments and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. You are confident turning complexity into clarity and creating learning experiences that genuinely support behaviour change and system adoption.
You will bring:
* Proven experience designing and delivering adult learning solutions in a workplace environment
* Strong instructional design capability across digital and face-to-face learning formats
* Experience developing job aids, videos, facilitator guides, and eLearning content
* Confidence delivering training to operational, technical, and corporate audiences
* Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Mandatory requirement
* Certificate IV in Workplace Training (or equivalent)
Desirable experience
* Experience within local government or public sector environments
* Exposure to change management or organisational readiness activities
* Knowledge of workplace health and safety or compliance-based training
* Experience using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline
