About the role
NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.
As an Infrastructure Property Officer, you will be responsible for providing land and easement acquisition advice and services to clients to assist with their decision making and project delivery. The advice may include communicating and explanation of the land acquisition process as stipulated in the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act or other related legislation and processes.
You will be required to negotiate with affected landowners, the acquisition of land and easements required by the client in a timely and efficient manner to ensure the success of the client's project.
About Public Works Property Team
The NSW Public Works (NSW PW) Land Acquisition and Property Services Team specialises in providing acquisition services to state and local government clients, facilitating the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in property-related fields and/or equivalent working experience in land acquisitions and property matters for local or state government.
Experience in successfully negotiating land and/or easements with property owners for local and state government agencies.
Experience in instructing valuers, solicitors and surveyors on land acquisition matters.
Experience and a demonstrated ability to read and understand land title search information, survey/cadastral plans and construction plans.
Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991, Local Government Act 1993, Crown Lands Management Act 2016 and other relevant legislation and regulations including the Native Title Act 1993 (Com) and NSW Aboriginal Lands Right Act 1983.
Experience to meet and address project deadlines and budget constraints.
Experience and knowledge of the requirements of NSW Land registry Services (LRS) in relation to property transactions.
Ability to undertake historical land and property tenure searching.
Hold a valid NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
