About the Role
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent, you will provide strong leadership to the drill and blast team to meet production and operational targets while maintaining a high level of safety. This position offers a development platform to work with experienced team members and receive mentoring from Superintendents and Managers. You will gain exposure to a large and dynamic pit.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and direction to a team of drill operators, shotfirers, bench-hands and contractors.
* Mentor up-and-coming step ups.
* Foster an inclusive and positive culture.
* Maintain a high level of safety performance and workplace culture through teamwork and company values.
* Strive to achieve daily and weekly drilling and blasting targets while maintaining safety.
* Lead the process of handling, transport and storage of explosives following HVO procedures.
* Ensure compliance with HSEC and legislative requirements.
* Demonstrate a commitment to and reinforce company values.
Roster and Location
Roster Day Shift (5/4). Based on site at HVO North.
About You
* Motivated individual able to lead, direct and hold accountable a crew of drill & blast members.
* Hold a current Worksafe NSW Security Clearance.
* Open Cut Examiners Certificate of competency (highly regarded).
* Hold a current NSW Blasting User Explosives License (highly regarded).
* Demonstrate knowledge of HSEC and legislative requirements.
* Extensive experience and knowledge of open cut mining operations.
* Proven leadership capabilities and ability to lead a diverse team.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with your team and across departments.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
