We are looking for a Construction Manager to join the team in Victoria. The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering construction projects from commencement to completion. This role ensures compliance with contractual obligations while meeting company objectives for safety, quality, sustainability, time, and profitability. You will lead the site team, manage stakeholders, and drive operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Governance
* Provide visible leadership to the construction team and ensure alignment with project goals.
* Implement company policies, systems, and procedures effectively across the project.
* Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and design team to ensure seamless execution.
* Foster strong client relationships and maintain open communication channels.
Health, Safety & Environment (EH&S)
* Enforce the Company Safety Management System and Global Minimum Requirements.
* Lead safety initiatives, conduct regular site inspections, and ensure compliance.
* Manage incident reporting, rehabilitation plans, and return-to-work programs.
* Promote a strong safety culture and reward excellence in EH&S performance.
Construction Planning & Productivity
* Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and progress reports.
* Monitor productivity and implement corrective actions to meet milestones.
* Conduct constructability reviews and recommend design changes to improve efficiency.
* Ensure accurate documentation, including site diaries and progress photographs.
Quality Assurance
* Develop and implement the project quality plan.
* Ensure compliance with specifications and resolve defects promptly.
* Address audit findings and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder & Authority Management
* Ensure compliance with legislative and authority requirements.
* Maintain professional relationships with unions and manage industrial relations issues.
* Communicate critical issues to senior management promptly.
Financial & Resource Management
* Support project budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
* Verify commitments and payments in line with approval processes.
* Assist in commercial close-out and subcontractor management.
Sustainability
* Set and deliver sustainability objectives for the project.
* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and reporting requirements.
* Implement stakeholder engagement plans and monitor effectiveness.
About You
* Proven experience in managing construction projects from start to finish.
* Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
* In‑depth knowledge of construction planning, methodologies, and risk management.
* Expertise in EH&S compliance and sustainability practices.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Financial acumen and experience in budgeting and contract administration.
* Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve complex issues.
