The Kris+ team in Australia is focused on expanding the local ecosystem of merchant partners and growing member engagement.
We are seeking a commercially driven and highly organised Kris+ Business Development Specialist to join our Sydney team on a 12‐month contract. In this position, you will help grow the Kris+ merchant ecosystem in Australia by acquiring and onboarding new partners, supporting the launch of partnership campaigns, and managing key operational and administrative processes.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The position is for a 12-month contract based in Sydney. The position has a salary range ofA$75,000– A$85,000 p.a plus superannuation. The starting salary may be adjusted, depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
HOURS OF DUTY:
Full-time position of 38 hours per week
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Business Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in expanding the Kris+ ecosystem in Australia by acquiring new merchant partners and driving revenue growth. This is a highly commercial, target-driven role focused on building a strong pipeline of new merchants, negotiating partnership agreements and securing co-funded campaigns that drive member engagement.
The role requires a proactive self-starter who is comfortable balancing aggressive sales targets with the operational rigour required to launch and manage partnerships end-to-end. You will work closely with merchants, marketing teams and internal stakeholders to bring partnerships to life and ensure long-term success.
PRINICPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The position reports to the Kris+ Business Development Manager. Key responsibilities of the position to manage acquisition, onboarding and engagement of Kris+ merchants in Australia, increasing the rewards platform's relevance in Australia.
* Proactively source, prospect and convert new merchant partners across priority categories to grow the Kris+ ecosystem in Australia
* Build and maintain a strong pipeline of partnership opportunities through cold outreach, networking, research and referrals
* Achieve aggressive merchant acquisition and revenue targets
* Pitch Kris+ value propositions to prospective partners and "sell the vision" of the platform
* Structure and negotiate commercial agreements including commission rates, member offers and campaign participation
* Secure co-funded marketing campaigns and voucher promotions with partners to drive member acquisition and engagement
* Develop customised partnership proposals and commercial decks for prospective merchants
* Conduct market research to identify new verticals, strategic merchants and competitive opportunities
* Communicate with head office product team to resolve any product issues.
Partnership Launch & Execution:
* Manage partnerships end-to-end from contract signing through onboarding and launch
* Coordinate merchant onboarding including contracts, technical setup, approvals and training
* Conduct user acceptance testing and ensure partner setups function correctly on the Kris+ platform
* Work with internal product and operations teams to resolve technical or integration issues
* Support merchants in creating offers, privileges and voucher campaigns within the Kris+ ecosystem
* Deliver marketing collateral and coordinate campaign activations with partners
* Support the launch of new partnerships through coordinated marketing activities
Ensuring merchant success in Australia:
* Manage a portfolio of merchant partners to drive ongoing performance and engagement
* Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities to grow transaction volume and campaign participation
* Renegotiate or extend expiring commercial agreements
* Secure participation and co-funding for Kris+ marketing campaigns and promotional activity
* Provide insights on market trends, competitor activity and merchant performance
Operational & Administrative Ownership
* Maintain accurate commercial records, contracts and reporting documentation
* Coordinate financial processes including invoicing, payments and reconciliation queries with partners
* Support compliance processes and operational issues.
* Ensure partnership records, systems and documentation are maintained accurately
* Prepare regular reporting and internal updates on merchant performance and partnership pipeline
Support other Kris+ functions as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
We are looking for an individual with the following attributes and skills:
* Experience in business development, partnerships, or merchant acquisition is preferred but not essential.
* Demonstrated ability to prospect, pitch and close commercial deals
* Comfortable operating in a target-driven sales environment
* Strong commercial negotiation skills and ability to secure mutually beneficial partnerships
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage operational processes end-to-end
* Ability to manage multiple priorities across sales, partnerships and operational responsibilities
* Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work in a fast-growing and evolving business
* Good understanding of the travel market, loyalty programs, and frequent flyer industry. Relevant experience in loyalty programme management and merchant acquisition would be beneficial
