**Job description**:
The Payments Branch provides support and guidance to providers delivering services to participants. You will be responsible for investigating and resolving outstanding payment requests that have been rejected through the internal system and participant portals. The branch processes manual payments to providers and self-managed participants.
This role is a 12 month initial contract, offering full time hours Monday to Friday.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Investigating and resolving outstanding payment requests.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to resolve payment enquiries.
- Processing manual payments to providers and self-managed participants.
- Working to resolve payment issues, guided by legislation, department policies and standards, and Payments Branch Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Contribute to decision-making within the team/work area.
- Consistently meeting team and individual work resolution targets.
- Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks.
- Maintaining an awareness of government decision-making processes, Agency guidelines and regulations.

**About You**
As the Payments Officer, you will be accountable to understand, analyse and interpret legislation, policies, strategies and program/project plans and must present with an enquiring mind and strong attention to detail.
In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Comfortable working in a hot desk environment
- Ability to deal with sometimes confronting and complex situations
- Ability to deal with conflict and provide high levels of empathy
- Managing demanding and changing workloads
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a Government department
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to advanced IT and software skills
- Have the demonstrated capacity to develop strong networks and work as part of a team
- Sound judgement, be able to work with a degree of independence and within tight timeframes
- A flexible and responsive approach to stakeholder needs and a demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
