About the Role
Are you a Speech Pathologist with extensive clinical experience, particularly with disability and/or adult populations? Curtin University School of Allied Health invites applications for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching Academic/Teaching & Research) in Speech Pathology. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position commencing in January 2026, tailored for an individual who excels in their field.
The role involves coordinating units, developing materials, and designing curricula, as well as teaching and supervising students at various levels. The ideal candidate should have clinical experience, engage in impactful teaching/scholarship of learning and teaching, have research expertise (particularly for Level C) and build relationships with industry and the community. Required capabilities include significant experience in a university setting, particularly in equity programs and supporting diverse students from various backgrounds and age groups.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate units, develop teaching materials, and design curricula.
- Teach and supervise students at various levels.
- Engage in teaching scholarship and research relevant to Speech Pathology.
- Contribute to industry and community relationships and activities.
Selection Criteria
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for a Teaching Academic role).
- Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
- An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- A history of successful competitive grant applications.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
- Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake unit coordination role.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to a collegial and supportive working setting and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant policies, procedures and legislation in day-to-day performance of the position.
If you would like to be considered for an ALC level, please ensure that you also add the following criteria in addition to the above:
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise HDR students.
- Evidence of an established national reputation and growing international profile and a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive grants and/or fellowships.
Role Requirements
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
