Coxswain | Master | Excavator Operator
Mass Resources is currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced marine and civil professionals for a large-scale dredging and marine infrastructure project commencing in April.
This high-profile project involves complex dredging operations within an active harbour and environmentally sensitive coastal zones. Works include material removal, pipeline installation, and vessel-based operations in a dynamic marine environment, supporting a major government-led harbour maintenance program.
This is a long-term opportunity on a technically challenging project that has previously received recognition for environmental and operational excellence.
Available Roles
1. Coxswain
This role supports daily marine operations and vessel movements within the harbour and dredging area.
Coxswain - Key responsibilities include:
* Safe operation and navigation of small to medium vessels
* Conducting pre-start checks and basic maintenance
* Ensuring the safety of crew and passengers
* Responding to emergency situations
* Complying with all maritime and safety regulations
Coxswain - What you'll need:
* ESS ticket
* Coxswain or relevant marine qualification
* Strong safety awareness and communication skills
* Ability to work long hours in a marine construction environment
2. Master (<5m Vessel)
You will take charge of vessel operations, crew safety and navigation within busy harbour and coastal waters.
Master - Key responsibilities include:
* Safe vessel operation and navigation
* Maintaining lookout and situational awareness
* Conducting safety briefings and enforcing safe work practices
* Managing onboard crew and passengers
* Completing vessel logs, inspections and incident reporting
* Responding to marine and medical emergencies
* Supporting marine construction and project activities
Master - What you'll need:
* AMSA Master <5m Certificate of Competency
* First Aid and CPR
* Marine Radio Qualification
* ESS ticket
* Strong leadership, communication and decision-making ability
3. Excavator Operator (Marine & Dredging Works)
This role supports dredging and material handling activities as part of the marine construction program.
Excavator Operator - Key responsibilities include:
* Operating excavators in a marine or coastal environment
* Supporting dredging, loading and material movement
* Working alongside marine crews and dredge operators
* Maintaining equipment and reporting defects
* Adhering to strict safety and environmental controls
Excavator Operator - What you'll need:
* Excavator operating experience
* Construction or civil background
* Ability to work extended hours on a marine project
* Strong safety and environmental awareness
