About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Legal Counsel (Privacy Officer) to join our in‐house Legal Department on a full‐time, 12‐month contract basis.
This position is responsible for assisting the Head of Legal in managing all legal and contractual matters of the bank. The role provides practical and strategic legal support across the organisation and assists the business to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, industry codes, and statutory and regulatory requirements.
In addition, the role will act as the organisation's Privacy Officer, supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Queensland Country Bank's privacy framework and privacy plan. This includes assisting the business to ensure compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.The role works closely with key stakeholders across the business and provides clear, practical legal and privacy advice in a regulated, member‐focused environment.
This is a full‐time 12‐month contract opportunity, based on a 38‐hour working week, located at our Townsville Head Office.
About You
To be eligible to apply for this position you must demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role within or supporting a financial institution
* Experience reviewing and independently advising a financial institution on regulative and legislative changes and legal issues/obligations.
* Experience developing a Privacy Management Plan and Framework, along with implementation and maintenance
* Ability to provide legal advice on complex matters of law to the organisation and liaise with external advisors
* A Bachelor of Law (at least 4 years post admission experience) (desirable)
* Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (desirable)
* A high level of computer literacy, accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
