About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior and Principal Engineering Consultants – Mine Ventilation and Refrigeration to join our growing consulting team in Perth. The role will allow the successful applicant to grow their experience in both hard rock and coal mine ventilation studies, including concept studies through to the detailed engineering design phases and performance testing. The role requires good communication skills, requiring interaction with clients on a daily basis.
The main tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Engineering and Design
* Develop sustainable and regulatory-compliant ventilation designs.
* Produce underground mine ventilation concepts, layouts, designs, trade-offs, scenario planning, cost estimates and execution plans.
* Identify, assess and manage risks in order to improve the reliability and performance of underground ventilation systems.
* Construct life-of-mine ventilation network models and perform airflow, heat, contaminant, blast fume and radon simulations for different mining scenarios using industry standard ventilation network modelling software (Ventsim or VUMA).
* Identify and select appropriate ventilation equipment, including fans, refrigeration plant, ventilation controls, ducting and scrubbing/filtration systems.
* Provide advice and guidance regarding ventilation requirements to assist mines with meeting their statutory and health and safety obligations.
* Provide detailed CAPEX and OPEX estimates.
* Travel to site to conduct ventilation surveys, site support, and on-site training.
* Support business development endeavours.
* Project management
* Review peers' and the project team's analysis and design.
* Manage overall study/project schedule for on-brief, on-time and on-budget delivery.
* Efficiently manage overall study/project hours, costs and resources.
* Compile competitive proposals with accurate scope-of-work, man-hour/cost estimate, deliverables and schedule.
* Check and issue monthly study/project invoicing.
* Internal and client meetings and presentations, report writing, technical reviews, report edits and progress reviews.
* Participate in relevant client engagement, networking, and internal development initiatives.
* Stakeholder engagement.
* Build and maintain client and partner relationships.
About you:
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Degree in Mechanical/Mining/Chemical Engineering or Mine Environmental Control/Ventilation qualification.
* 8 years' experience in underground mine ventilation and refrigeration or similar.
* Experience in a consulting role will be advantageous.
* Software skills/abilities
* Mine Ventilation Software (e.g. VUMA or Ventsim)
* Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Good communication skills.
* Valid Driver's License.
* Valid Passport.
* Willingness to travel to mine sites and overseas.
The following are not essential but will be highly regarded:
* Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation.
* Postgraduate mine ventilation coursework or qualification.
