Geo-Environmental Engineering Role
We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Geo-Environmental Engineering team in Newcastle, Australia. This hybrid role offers flexibility and the chance to lead a talented technical team, while building strong client relationships across the country.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consultant to shape and deliver projects in civil infrastructure, waste management, water, and mining sectors. You will play a key role in developing cutting-edge solutions for geo-environmental challenges, integrating waste management into broader infrastructure projects.
* Lead and deliver projects focused on Waste management including landfill design, engineered containment systems, geosynthetic applications, resource recovery solutions.
* Mining: tailings management facilities and complex liner systems; Ground engineering including slope stabilization and rehabilitation.
* Develop innovative solutions for geo-environmental challenges, integrating waste management into broader infrastructure projects.
* Prepare and review technical documentation for waste-related projects across planning, design, and execution phases.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the waste and geo-environmental sectors, supporting both project delivery and business development initiatives.
* Ensure technical excellence in waste and geo-environmental engineering, overseeing quality and risk management.
* Undertake project management to deliver desired outcomes for key clients with a focus on repeat business.
About the Role
You will likely hold a tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering, supported by over 7 years of relevant industry experience. In this role, strong detailed design capabilities are essential. You will bring:
* Experience in delivering high-quality, detailed design documentation.
* Technical expertise in waste management, including the design of landfills, leachate collection and treatment systems, geosynthetics, capping systems, and resource recovery infrastructure.
* Ability to assess and design for subsurface environmental risks, embankments, complex earthworks, and surface water management systems.
* Proficiency in using design software and tools to produce accurate, constructible, and compliant engineering designs.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience leading and contributing to multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring integration of design elements across disciplines.
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and technical excellence.
* Proven or developing skills in mentoring and guiding junior to senior engineers, with sound decision-making and project delivery skills.
