(In office presence in the area is required)Application Close: Monday, 16th June 2025 (9:59am)This role sits within the Building Commission NSW Division in the Building Operations, Compliance teamAbout the Building Commission NSWThe new Building Commission NSW has been established after the NSW Government recognised the substantial progress made by Fair Trading and the Office of the Building Commissioner in delivering once-in-a-generation reforms of the building and construction industry. The new commission will not only be the industry regulator, but also a collaborator with consumers and industry to ensure standards, capabilities, capacity and resilience continue to be lifted across the sector to deliver quality homes and meet the state's housing targets.The Building Commission NSW is an outstanding place to work due to its commitment to innovation, collaboration and professional development. With a focus on transparency and accountability, the commission cultivates a culture if integrity and responsibility.Those who join the organisation can be confident in contributing to meaningful work that positively impacts the built environment and the greater community, making it an exciting and fulfilling place to build a career.Undertake inspection and compliance activities.Coordinate proactive and targeted inspection operations applying effective risk management strategies.Undertake complex mediations and dispute resolution in line with legislation, regulations and policies.Prepare, present and review evidence, reports and submissions to make appropriate recommendations.Develop and maintain specialist regulatory knowledge and skills, act as a resource for managers and team members and effectively contribute to ongoing development needs of the Department's regulatory role.Provide advice regarding significant developments, critical milestones and identification of options.Provide information and advice to industry, businesses and citizens regarding their rights and responsibilities in relation to relevant legislation.Effectively maintain statistical data, records and outcomes and provide timely and accurate reporting of compliance activities undertaken.Contribute to the development, mentoring and coaching to team members, maintaining a culture of teamwork, achievement, accountability and outcome focus.About youAre you highly organised and passionate about your work?Do you have a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or willingness to complete one?Do you have a current NSW Drivers License?Are you happy and willing to travel throughout the state when required?Do you have a Builder License or Qualified Supervisor Certificate?To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:Demonstrated experience in residential building work, particularly Class 1 construction.Strong oral and written communication skills including preparation of technical reports.Excellent knowledge of the National Construction Code and Building Code of AustraliaDemonstrated ability to manage a caseload in a high-volume work environment while working unsupervised and managing the expectations of customers and traders.It is essential that you hold a NSW Drivers License as well as a Builders License or Qualified Supervisor Certificate or are eligible to obtain one in order to be successful in this role.If you'd like to know more about this role, or have any enquiries regarding the recruitment process, please contact Michael Yoon, Talent Acquisition Advisor, at Michael.Yoon@customerservice.nsw.gov.auWhat we need from youAn up-to-date CV and a brief cover letter (2 page maximum) outlining how your skills and experience are aligned to the role.
