About Us

Macleay Vocational College (MVC) is an independent Special Assistance School located on Dhungutti Country in the Macleay Valley, supporting students in Years 9–12. We provide a flexible, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment for young people who have faced barriers to mainstream education.

MVC is operated by the Macleay Valley Workplace Learning Centre Inc., a not-for-profit community-based education provider and Registered Training Organisation (RTO No Since 1992, we have offered vocational and educational programs that prioritise student wellbeing, cultural identity, and personal growth.

Our Ginda Barri Centre is an onsite early learning space that provides additional support for young parents and families engaged in education. It plays a vital role in removing barriers for young people balancing parenting and schooling responsibilities.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Early Childhood Education Worker to join our Ginda Barri Centre team. This role may be offered on either a part-time or full-time basis.

You will support children's care, engagement, and learning, while also working alongside students, teachers, and wellbeing staff to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young parents and their children.

This is an Aboriginal Identified Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977) and must demonstrate cultural knowledge and community connection that will support young parents and their children in the Ginda Barri Centre.

Key Responsibilities

* Support young parents and their children within the Ginda Barri Centre
* Assist with care routines, learning, and development activities for children aged 0–5
* Observing and documenting children's progress to inform learning plans
* Ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that promotes children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth
* Building strong relationships with children and their families
* Collaborating with the teaching team to continually improve our educational programs
* Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
* Maintain safe, inclusive and supportive environments for all students and children
* Work collaboratively with teaching and wellbeing staff as part of a multidisciplinary team

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

* Certificate III in Children's Services
* Experience supporting young people and/or children in educational or care settings
* Understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative education environments
* Knowledge of child safety and wellbeing practices
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also ability to multi-task, and work independently at times
* Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural inclusivity
* Current Working with Children Check and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Driver licence
* Must have knowledge of the local community and support services

* Organisational and Case Management skills

* Ability to collaborate with all levels of organisation in particular teachers and well-being staff willingness, facilitate student learning support
