For a leading legal service provider committed to social justice, we are seeking a Managing Lawyer specializing in Family Law and Family Violence. This role is pivotal in leading the family law and family violence programs, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed legal services across the Barwon region. The position involves supervising a team of lawyers and support staff, contributing to service coordination, and playing a key role in organizational leadership. The Managing Lawyer will work closely with internal teams and external partners to address the complex needs of clients experiencing family violence. This full-time fixed-term contract extends to June 2026, covering parental leave
Responsibilities
 * Lead the Family Law and Family Violence team, ensuring excellence and collaboration in legal service delivery
 * Manage scheduling of legal services, including rostering duty lawyer services and court appearances
 * Provide supervision, mentoring, and strategic case direction to lawyers, students, and volunteers
 * Deliver legal assistance through advice, casework, and representation, focusing on family law and family violence
 * Strengthen internal systems and processes within the Family Law and Family Violence team
Your Profile
 * Extensive experience in legal practice with at least seven years post-admission experience in family law and family violence
 * Proven leadership and team management capability, with experience supervising legal staff
 * Strong commitment to social justice and equity, with a history of advancing the rights of disadvantaged individuals
 * Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively across diverse settings
 * Experience in community legal education, law reform, and advocacy, including policy submissions and strategic litigation
Benefits
 * Base annual salary ranging from $122,670 to $127,788
 * Additional entitlements include 3% above Award pay rate
 * Five weeks of annual leave with three bonus days between Christmas and New Year
