Leadership Role for Signalling Design Team
The Senior Signalling Designer will lead the signalling design team across all phases of the project, from concept through to detailed design and handover.
This includes ensuring designs comply with applicable railway standards, codes, and safety regulations. The role also involves providing technical guidance, mentorship, and competency development for signalling engineers and designers.
About the Project
* Lead a team of signalling designers across all phases of the project, from concept through to detailed design and handover.
* Ensure designs are compliant with railway standards, codes, and safety regulations.
* Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and training to signalling engineers and designers.
* Review and approve technical deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
* Coordinate and liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients to facilitate design integration and resolution of technical issues.
* Work closely with Project Managers to maintain project schedules, resource plans, and budgets for the signalling design function.
* Contribute to risk management by identifying design risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
* Support business development and client engagement through technical expertise and market knowledge.
Qualifications and Experience
* At least 15 years' professional experience in railway signalling with specialist knowledge of conventional signal design in adherence with Australian railway standards and guidelines.
* Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering.
* Certificate(s) of competency from rail transport operators such as MTM, VLINE, ARTC (etc), level 2 highly desired.
* Accreditation from Engineers Australia and membership with IRSE.
* Strong technical knowledge of conventional signal design principles, ETCS and whole of life project management experience.
* In-depth knowledge of all systems that interface to signalling such as, rolling stock, power, communications, track and civil, etc.
* Ability to lead signal design engineers and/or project teams to successfully meet or exceed client expectations.
* Excellent understanding of document and design control processes.
* Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong computer, software and systems literacy.
* Excellent client relationship management skill as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
