The Credit Controller/Accounts Receivable is a key member of the Finance team responsible for managing day-to-day accounts receivable functions across multiple entities. This hands‐on role encompasses a wide range of duties including invoicing, banking & reconciliation, credit management, collections, relationship management and reporting/administration/general duties
The ideal candidate is detail‐oriented, self‐motivated, and capable of handling multiple tasks within a fast‐paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Invoicing
* Generate and process accurate customer invoices across multiple legal entities, using various time‐sheeting platforms
* Minimum 3-5 years of accounts receivable experience required
* Maintain knowledge of different legal entity structures, ABNs, tax registrations, and entity‐specific billing requirements
* Ensure all billable services and products are invoiced according to contract terms
* Verify invoice accuracy including pricing, GL account coding, terms, and customer details
* Coordinate with sales/project/delivery teams to obtain necessary billing information
* Maintain invoicing schedules
* Process credit notes and invoice adjustments as required
* Process receipts/remittances and allocate payments accurately
* Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies
Credit Management
* Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed terms
* Conduct credit assessments for new and existing customers
* Set and review credit limits in accordance with company policy
* Minimize bad debt exposure and reduce debtor days
Collections
* Contact customers regarding overdue accounts via phone, email, and written correspondence
* Resolve disputed invoices
* Negotiate payment plans if necessary
* Escalate problematic accounts appropriately
* Maintain accurate records of all collection activities
* Prepare and send customer account statements
Relationship Management
* Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and customers
* Complete customer account applications when required
* Provide compliance documentation (insurance certificates, WorkCover, etc.) to customers as requested or required by contract
* Collaborate with Sales and Project teams regarding customer accounts
* Provide excellent customer service while maintaining firm collection practices
* Liaise with legal counsel regarding debt recovery when necessary
Reporting/Administration/General
* Respond to queries in a timely manner
* Prepare weekly/monthly aged debtor reports and analysis
* Contribute to month‐end and year‐end financial close activities
* Assist with cash flow forecasting
* Identify opportunities to improve credit control processes and procedures
* Support the implementation of system improvements and process enhancements as required
* Support external accountants/auditors with half‐year/year‐end processes
* Prepare ad‐hoc reports as requested
* Maintain confidentiality of all financial records and information
Skills & Qualifications
* Certificate IV or higher in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (or equivalent experience)
* 3-5 years of experience is essential
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks)
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Experience in professional services invoicing is not essential but desired
* SAP Business Network experience is highly regarded
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles
* Excellent Excel and general MS Office skills
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work autonomously and within a small team
* FastTrack/Accelo experience not mandatory but desired
Australian work rights are essential for this position
