The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Innovation team is looking for a Product Evaluation Technologist in our Product, Innovation and Technology team based in Port Kembla. We deliver superior steel products including COLORBOND, TRUECORE, ZINCALUME, and innovative solutions to the Australian building materials market.
This role involves hands-on problem solving and technical activities with high visibility outcomes. You will work closely with subject matter experts to investigate the performance of steel products and steel building systems, assembling the evidence base for technical advice and standards representation, and informing industry partners on best practices for steel building products including roofing, framing, and wall cladding.

What Will You Do?
Develop solutions from ideation to prototyping and certification for new and existing building products.
Identify and resolve risks and issues, providing insights into steel product applications.
Collaborate with customer and market-facing teams to provide expert advice on steel product application and performance.
Be a subject matter expert in steel product application technologies and identify strategic opportunities for the domestic market.
Stay updated on emerging compliance and building performance requirements in Australia.
More About You
You should come from a background in Materials Science, Building Product Testing, Building Science consultancy, or similar, with technical ability and problem-solving skills. Essential qualifications and skills include:
A qualification in Engineering, Science, Construction, or extensive experience in a similar field.
Practical knowledge of building materials, installation practices, compliance, and product requirements.
Commercial acumen and the ability to translate technical information into business outcomes.
Strong relationship-building skills and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Experience or interest in building system performance and building science is welcome but not necessary; industry experience and a consultative approach are valued.
