The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Networks Manager to join our team in either WA or Victoria. As the Cloud Networks Manager you will play a critical role in overseeing Vocus' IT and cloud-based networks, ensuring they are stable, secure, and operating efficiently. This position involves designing, implementing, and managing IT and cloud network infrastructure for internal and external customers and leading a team of IT Network Engineering professionals.
What you'll be doing day-to-day
- Develop and deploy strategic services and capabilities, sponsor initiatives that continuously improve scalability, availability, performance, and adoption of modern technologies to deliver increased business value.
- Provide significant input into architecture, strategy, and roadmaps; recognising impact on customers and business objectives.
- Design, deploy, and manage secure and scalable cloud network architectures across private and public cloud platforms.
- Maintain the security, performance, availability, and health of the organisation's private and public cloud networks including analysis, planning and design.
- Automated network provisioning and configuration management using tools like Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Lead and supervise a team of IT and Cloud network professionals, providing guidance, training, and coaching to enhance their capabilities.
- Implement and enforce network security measures, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.
- Evaluate and recommend network technologies, solutions, and upgrades to enhance performance, scalability, and security
- Accountable for the network infrastructure lifecycle from planning, sourcing, supplier management, operational excellence whilst balancing cost, demand, and risk.
- Take ownership of new initiatives and confidently represent them in relevant Senior Management forums.
- Participating in corporate change control procedures and methodologies.
- Collaborate and work effectively with other teams.
- Other Cloud Network tasks as directed.
What you'll bring to this role
- Technical credibility and independent judgement and decision making.
- Knowledge of ITSM processes and practices, and experience in implementing them, including adapting to emerging service models, as well as continuous improvement and delivery.
- Experience in managing relationships with product and service vendors.
- Understanding of Cyber Security and associated operational preventative and remedial measures.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with strong ability to influence both IT and relevant business partners.
- Strong people management skills.
- Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Deep understanding of IT and Public Cloud network topology concepts such as SD-WAN, coupled with knowledge of related infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balances.
- Experience with cloud network security solutions like Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall) or Cloud Firewall
- Experience with network function virtualisation (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) technologies
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and/or other similar networks.
- 8+ years of commercial experience in IT/Cloud Network Engineering coupled with professional qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience in project methodologies during large scale, complex and critical projects.
- Strong understanding of the telecommunication's regulatory environment.
- Ability to build strong relationships and maintain a rapport with supporting colleagues/team members, internal Vocus stakeholders, and 3rd party service providers.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a small high performing team
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to a new environment
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage business and technology teams
