The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is a community-based service located in Burnie, Tasmania. It is a multidisciplinary team that provides community and outreach mental health services to individuals requiring mental health support. We work collaboratively with the person, their family, and informal and formal supports to ensure the person lives their best life.

The Role:

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health services aligned with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policies, legal requirements, and professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides expert knowledge within an advanced clinical framework to manage consumers with complex mental health needs in their designated practice area.

Requirements:

* Extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice across various settings, with at least five years of post-graduate clinical nursing experience relevant to Mental Health settings.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety regulations, and departmental policies.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution, with proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team at both service and community levels.

Position Details:

Permanent, full-time, day shift, working 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.

*Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

This process may be used to fill similar vacancies for up to twelve months from the date of publication.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 annually, plus 11.5% superannuation. Salary is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

* Postgraduate Allowance of up to 10%, depending on qualifications.

Salary Packaging:

Eligible employees can access salary packaging benefits, including living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 for meal entertainment annually, plus other benefits.

Applicants must meet the essential criteria:

* Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse with a postgraduate mental health qualification, or equivalent registration as a psychiatric nurse from an accredited program.
* Current Driver’s License.

Desirable criteria include extensive psychiatric nursing experience and/or credentialing as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc., or equivalent, and relevant tertiary qualifications.
