Harvey Norman Commercial is a leading and unique supplier of goods and services to the Victorian building and construction industry, offering product solutions for Architects, Builders, Designers, Developers, and Plumbers.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Purchasing Officer. The ideal candidate will be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has outstanding attention to detail, analytical skills, and excellent time management. Our Purchasing Officers liaise with suppliers to align purchasing processes with sales objectives and overall business strategy. This role focuses heavily on customer service, administration, and organizational skills.

The Position

1. Support the Inventory Manager, Commercial Manager, Director, and external clients effectively.
2. Share information with Account Managers, Sales Coordinators, and warehouse staff to manage vendor accounts effectively and in compliance with Harvey Norman systems.
3. Build and maintain trust with vendors and colleagues.
4. Purchase stock from various suppliers to meet deadlines and maintain stock levels.
5. Organize stock call-ups in line with customer project schedules.
6. Obtain the best pricing using various resources.
7. Review backorders and follow up on delivery times with suppliers daily.
8. Inform relevant departments of back orders and due dates.
9. Respond to internal and external queries regarding purchases to assist customers.
10. Address and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
11. Maintain accurate purchasing records and provide feedback to management.
12. Participate in biannual stocktakes.
13. Assist administration staff as needed.

About you:

The successful candidate will have a background in Procurement, preferably in a Commercial industry, and will possess:

1. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
2. Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
3. Intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel.
4. Strong attention to detail.
5. High-level written and verbal communication skills.
