We are seeking an experienced Counsellor to join our team, providing counselling services to children and young people who have experienced family separation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to express their emotions and develop healthy coping mechanisms. They will also work with families to improve communication and relationships within the family unit.
This is a dynamic and fast-paced role that requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of child development and the impact of family separation on children.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide individual and group counselling sessions to children and young people aged 5-18.
* Work with families to improve communication and relationships within the family unit.
* Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each client.
* Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.
* Participate in regular team meetings and professional development activities.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
* Demonstrated experience in providing counselling services to children and young people.
* Strong understanding of child development and the impact of family separation on children.
* Experience working with families affected by Family Violence.
* An understanding of Family Systems Therapy.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Current registration with relevant professional bodies (if applicable).
