Job Opportunity: Strategic Government Relations Director
This is a 5-year fixed term, full-time opportunity to lead a high-performing and supportive team in a Department of Treasury and Finance.
About the Role
As a Director of Government Relations you will be responsible for leading a highly professional team to provide analysis and advice to Government on Commonwealth-State funding and policy matters. This includes technical advice on the distribution of GST between states, negotiation of grants funding from the Commonwealth Government, and financial principles for engagement between the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.
This role includes a high level of interaction with other parts of DTF and Victorian Government agencies, the Commonwealth and interstate treasuries, and the Treasurer's office.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Demonstrated capacity in applying economic, financial, or public policy analysis to complex issues;
* High-level negotiation, influencing, and communication skills (written and verbal) with senior stakeholders both inside and outside of government;
* Leadership, people management, and interpersonal skills;
* Experience leading in a specialized and complex field, with an ability to distill key issues and quickly respond to emerging priorities;
* Knowledge of economic, fiscal, and strategic issues affecting Victoria, as well as an appreciation of the machinery of government.
Requirements
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, finance, public policy, or a related discipline.
