Warehouse Operations Leader
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Shift Supervisors and overseeing warehouse efficiency, compliance, and safety. The successful applicant will lead by example, foster a positive work environment, and drive results through effective leadership.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless day-to-day operations across multiple sites. Your expertise will help us prepare for a significant operational transition, while maintaining high levels of productivity and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities
* Leadership & Operations:
o Lead, mentor, and coordinate Supervisors and their teams across multiple shifts.
o Oversee warehouse KPIs including picking accuracy, damaged stock reduction, and on-time dispatch.
o Ensure staffing levels meet operational needs, especially around peak periods and public holidays.
* Compliance & Safety:
o Promote a proactive safety culture through regular toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
o Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, COR, and OH&S regulations.
o Oversee PPE and uniform distribution.
* Team & Culture:
o Foster a culture of initiative, trust, and accountability.
o Recruit and onboard staff as needed, particularly to support new business growth.
o Coach Supervisors to take ownership of their shifts and decisions.
* Systems & Cost Management:
o Manage timekeeping, payroll queries, and approval of overtime.
o Use WMS and rostering tools to drive efficiency and control costs.
o Support accurate reporting and issue forecasting.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Proven leadership experience in a warehouse/distribution setting.
* Hands-on experience in pick/pack, inventory control, and dispatch.
* Solid knowledge of warehouse systems (WMS), rostering, and cost control.
* A forklift license (or willingness to obtain).
* Confidence managing and mentoring frontline supervisors.
* Strong planning and crisis management capabilities, especially around shift coverage and public holidays.
