Job Title: Senior Commissioning Engineer
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated senior commissioning professional to lead commissioning activities on site for major industrial projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring control systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to meet technical, functional, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and execute the commissioning of control systems including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and networked automation infrastructure.
2. Perform site-based functional testing, loop checking, fault-finding, and system tuning.
3. Interface with project stakeholders including construction, electrical, instrumentation, and OEM teams to coordinate commissioning activities.
4. Interpret and validate I/O schedules, control philosophies, and P&IDs against system performance.
5. Ensure systems comply with project specifications, Australian standards, and client requirements.
6. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across control and communication systems.
7. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
8. Generate and maintain commissioning documentation including test reports, redlines, punch lists, and progress tracking.
9. Support site acceptance testing (SAT) and handover to operations.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar).
* Minimum 5 years' relevant industry experience.
* Proficiency with major PLC/SCADA platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, Citect, Ignition).
* Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
* Proven ability to work autonomously in remote and high-pressure environments.
* Solid knowledge of AS/NZS standards, functional safety, and site commissioning protocols.
* Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
* Australian citizenship or valid Australian work visa.
* Experience with commissioning large-scale greenfield or brownfield projects.
* Exida/TUV Functional Safety certification or similar.
* Relevant site access tickets (e.g., White Card, MSIC, or site-specific inductions).
* Exposure to control room integration and operational readiness processes.
