The Role: Operations Manager (Maternity Leave Cover)
We're looking for a highly motivated, experienced Operations Manager to lead our Sydney operations team of 10 for a 15-month maternity leave cover. You'll oversee the day-to-day operational performance, lead a team of Supervisors and Coordinators, and play a pivotal role in the implementation of our Global Service Center (GSC) initiative.
This role is a critical leadership position in our Australian business, reporting directly to the Country Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
 * Ensure end-to-end execution of operations, from order creation to delivery.
 * Oversee month-end close processes and produce month end closure operational reports.
 * Monitor KPIs and ensure service delivery exceeds targets.
 * Maintain data accuracy and compliance with global freight agreements.
 * Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and quality standards.
 * Lead, support, and mentor Team Supervisors and their direct reports.
 * Plan and deliver onboarding and ongoing training.
 * Manage team schedules, absences, and leave.
 * Foster a positive, high-performance culture and team environment.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
 * Serve as the point of contact for insurance matters (claims, lodgment, settlements).
 * Liaise with suppliers, customers, global offices, and third-party providers.
 * Lead meetings with team leaders to resolve challenges and drive improvement.
 * Support the GSC implementation and transition processes.
Additional Support
 * Step in to cover Team Leader and Coordinator desks as needed.
 * Support project execution and process improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
 * Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a fast-paced operational environment.
 * At least 5 years' experience in the Freight Forwarding and Logistics industry and experience related to beverage logistics is highly desirable.
 * Strong people management and team development skills.
 * Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
 * Strong numeracy and data analysis abilities.
 * Ability to manage complex projects and meet tight deadlines.
