Australian Conveyor Engineering (ACE), part of the Fenner Conveyors Group, delivers end-to-end solutions for the design, manufacture, and installation of high-capacity conveyor systems. As we continue to grow and support our customers with high-quality engineered solutions, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Queensland workshop operations and drive safety, service excellence, and financial performance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Strategic Lead -Conveyor Components, this senior leadership position is responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of Queensland workshop operations to support engineered conveyor solutions to existing and prospective customers. The role is instrumental in delivering strong safety outcomes, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and sustainable profitability while leading and developing a high-performing team.
Key responsibilities include achieving sales, revenue, and profit targets; implementing robust operational, manufacturing, and workshop planning systems; and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. The role also oversees operational costs, overheads, capacity planning, and workforce utilisation, supported by accurate and timely reporting on project performance, budgets, and resource requirements.
In addition, the Operations Manager will build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders; represent the business at client meetings and industry forums; lead recruitment, performance management, and capability development; drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, cost, and service delivery; and champion a strong safety culture in full compliance with WHS legislation, company policies, and customer requirements.
About You
You are a commercially astute operations leader with some knowledge in conveyor systems and mining services, comfortable operating in complex, fast-paced environments. You hold a trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a tertiary qualification in business, management, commerce, finance, or a similar field preferred.
You bring extensive experience in service and manufacturing operations within mining or conveyor-related industrial industries, including a proven track record leading workshop or service operations and managing key commercial accounts. Your technical capability covers conveyor systems, rubber lining, and associated services, supported by a strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, Australian Standards, QA systems, and design codes.
You are an effective people leader with advanced project management and stakeholder engagement skills, underpinned by strong financial and commercial acumen in budgeting, cost control, and forecasting. Experience working within a large corporate or international environment, along with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies, will be highly regarded.
