The Practice
Darling Downs Eye is a premier ophthalmic practice located at St. Andrew's Hospital, Toowoomba. The practice provides complete eye care to people of Toowoomba and the surrounding regions.
Our business is a private ophthalmic practice that utilises the latest equipment to provide excellence in eye disease management. The equipment is state-of-the-art which allows for the comprehensive and most up to date treatment for conditions such as cataract, macular degeneration and glaucoma. The practice offers minor surgical procedures on site in the fully equipped treatment room.
Our business hours are 8.30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
We are after a dynamic optometrist to join our clinical team to assist in work-up and diagnosis of eye conditions as they present to the clinic. The position is permanent part-time or casual, and we are looking for 1-4 sessions per week ( each session is 4 hours ) over Monday morning, Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon. Other times may be available.
School holiday leave is available so this job could especially suit someone with school age children.

We work hard with appointments every 10 minutes and you will be sharing the clinical load with one or two ophthalmic technicians and / or nurses. We look after and support each other at all times and share the workload of a busy practice with a caring approach at every turn.
Applicants will be required to work autonomously, as well as with administrative and medical staff and must therefore be able to work as part of a team and have a friendly and positive disposition.
Clinical duties include, but are not limited to:
* Reading referrals and determining reason for presentation .This included medical and ophthalmic history taking, eye examination including vision assessment of patients, visual acuity, refraction, pupil assessments, colour vision assessments, extra ocular motor function, and others.
* Computerised ophthalmic testing including HVF, OCT, A scan, Autorefractor and keratometer, OPTOS imaging, anterior segment photography
* Working with elderly clientele with poor mobility and other impairments in a kind but efficient manner
* Efficiency and accuracy in taking a medical history and ability to translate this into an electronic medical record
This position would suit an individual who is intereted in combining this role with retail optometry sessions
Computer competency and typing proficiency is essential.
