Cardiac Cath Lab
Once fully operational, each year the Victorian Heart Hospital will provide 10,000 interventional cardiac catheterisation procedures across seven catheter laboratories, amongst the most advanced and largest in the world. As a pioneer in many advanced cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures and first in man trials, the heart hospital is set to further cement our vision of “exceptional care, outstanding outcomes” in cardiac care.
Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurses
As a Cath Lab Nurse, you are a pivotal member of a talented multidisciplinary team dedicated to the delivery of modern cardiovascular care to improve patient outcomes. Critical to this role, is the ability to rotate through the Immediate Recovery Centre (IRC) along with the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and Interventional Laboratories, as guided by the Nursing leadership team, performing in scrub and scout roles. Combining world class clinical care, research and teaching all in the same facility, the Victorian Heart Hospital is truly the best place for a Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse to advance their clinical expertise and further education. The opportunity to expand your clinical expertise whether it be writing research papers or pursuing education pathways via Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) or Postgraduate studies will be supported.

We invite equally passionate Cath Lab Nurses to join our team with Full Time Ongoing positions available across either 10 or 8 Hr Shifts*. *Shifts will vary depending on operational requirements.
About You
You are an accomplished Cath Lab Nurse seeking a new career opportunity and excited to be part of history by working at Australia’s first standalone cardiac facility. You are also naturally curious, have a thirst for learning and looking to mastering your cardiac and anaesthetic skills. Working closely within a multidisciplinary Cath Lab team, you bring the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Essential Skills:
1. Ability and flexibility to participate in and perform services during over-time and emergency recall
2. Ability to travel in under 30mins for on call services
3. Current Victorian Drivers Licence and vehicle are essential (A travelling allowance is payable at the current rate per kilometre for on call services)
4. Current AHPRA registration and eligibility to work in Australia
5. Naturally curious and seeking to master your cardiac care expertise
6. Availability to work across a mixture of 8 and 10 hour shift depending on organisational operational requirements.
Highly Desirable Skills:
7. Scrub/scout/recovery experience
8. Complex and/or basic Interventional Cardiology procedural skills such as Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (elective and/or Emergency), Structural Heart including TAVI, PFO/ASD, Mitral Valve and Atrial Appendage Occlusion procedures.
9. Cardiac Rhythm Management procedural and recovery skills including Electro-Physiology, Permanent Pacemaker/Defibrillator Implantation, Temporary Pacing
10. Invasive monitoring including recognition of arterial and right heart pressures/waveforms, and Balloon Pump management
11. Experience with femoral/radial/brachial artery and/or venous sheath management pre/peri/post removal.
12. Experienced background in Cardiac nursing and/or Critical care, Advanced Life Support
13. Anaesthesia and airway management
14. Other pre/peri/post procedural experience, theatre scrub/scout or similar
15. Postgraduate Certificate or higher in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency, Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Interventional Cardiology) or working towards
